Aquamoves Receives Platinum Pools Award
As part of the award the centre had to go through a rigorous series of assessments to ensure they met Life Saving Victoria’s criteria for a Platinum Pool award.
Life Saving Victoria's Manager of Aquatic Risk Management, Alistair Thom, said the newly created award is a way of recognising those facilities that have met the highest safety requirements in the aquatic industry.
"The award is similar to accrediting a lifesaver, and therefore facilities must undergo a thorough assessment of their skills and performance and attain a high standard throughout," Mr Thom said.
"We are very selective with who receives platinum Pool accreditation, and it must be proven an exemplary level of aquatic safety is constantly maintained before the award is received," he said.
Aquamoves Operations Co-ordinator Steve Wilson, said the award showed Aquamoves was leading the way in regional Victoria in providing a safe aquatic environment for all patrons.
"We are very proud to have received this award. Everyone at Aquamoves has worked hard to ensure we are the safest and most well equipped facility in regional Victoria," he said
"Our work will not stop here however, Aquamoves is committed to proactively responding to all safety issues and this award is just the beginning" he said.
One of the assessments pools need to go through is a 'mystery guest' visit. Like any other mystery guest visit the pool must prove a high level of safety and supervision is maintained even when assessors are not on the pool deck.
"The mystery guest visit allows us to view the pool coordination in its daily running. It gives insight into the pool running as they don't realise they are actually on display," Mr Thom.
Included in the platinum pool award is the Royal Life Saving Society's Swimming Pool Safety Assessment (SPSA), a six monthly assessment on implementation of Safety Improvement Plan from the SPSA, a Life Saving Victoria's Mystery Guest Visit and a Life Saving Victoria's Supervision Assessment.
The Platinum Pool Program involves several assessments and is valid for a twelve month period.
