Learn To Swim Program

Aquamoves offers a comprehensive Swim School Program catering for all levels of swimming ability and all ages.

Learn to Swim classes are available six days a week and are conducted during each Victorian school term (There are no lessons on public holidays). All of our teachers are fully Austswim qualified and many also hold specialist aquatic qualifications such as Infant Aquatics, Level 1 Swim Coach, and Teaching for All Abilities. Private lessons (one on one, two on one or three on one) are available and can be arranged by speaking to the Learn to Swim Administration Officers on (03) 5832 9408.

Aquamoves aims to:

  • Develop an awareness of potential dangers in and around water and teach a range of swimming safety and survival skills.
  • Progressively refine both competitive and survival strokes.
  • Provide a basis for children to continue aquatic activities either recreationally, competitively or through life saving.
  • Provide a safe and friendly learning environment.
  • To provide excellent customer service to meet our patrons’ needs.

Payment options and enrolment forms

  • Term fee payment must be made by the first week of the term or prior to the term commencing

Parents and Bubs classes

Classes you and your child can enjoy together.

Our parents and bubs classes encourage water familiarisation,  enjoyment of the water and movement exploration and progression through songs and games. Children must be aged six months and over to participate in classes. Parents are required to be in the water for these lesons.

Duration of Classes: 30 minutes
Days & Times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm. Limited evening classes are also available from Monday to Friday between 4.00 pm until 6.30 pm.

Tadpole classes

Our tadpole classes extend on the principles of water familiarisation which reinforce greater independence and confidence in the water and focuses more on the building blocks of later stroke development.  Tadpole classes also include a strong emphasis on the development of personal water safety skills. Parents generally do not have to be in the water for these lessons.

Duration of Classes: 30 minutes
Days & Times: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9.00 am until 12.00 pm.  Evening classes are also available from Monday to Friday between 4.00 pm until 6.30 pm

Learn to Swim - Levels 1 to 5

Stroke development begins once your child has reached a minimum level of independence and ability. As your child moves through Aquasafe Stages One to Five, their swimming strokes will be progressively refined and the emphasis on personal water safety, survival skills and life saving knowledge will increase.

Duration of Classes: 30 minutes
Days & Times: Monday to Friday from 4.00 pm until 6.30 pm. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9.00am until 12.00pm. Saturdays from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm.

Learn to Swim - Transition squad

Transition squad is an extension of Aquamoves “Learn to Swim Program”. Participants can join a pre-squad class upon completion of level five or on assessment.

Programs are based on water skills and development, working each individual to their potential and logical progression.  Strong focus is placed on technique development and  building endurance levels to enable swimmers to complete increased distances. Classes limited to five swimmers per class.

Progression from Transition Squad is: Junior, Intermediate and then Advanced Squad.

Duration of Classes: 1/2 hour
Days & Times:  Monday to Friday from 4.00 pm until 7.00 pm (exact times of classes will be confirmed)

Learn to Swim - Squads and Advanced squad

Squad training is aimed towards competitive swimming.  Squad groups are instructed by a level 1 coach which provides a swimming environment that allows participants to develop their swimming potential in terms of both stroke technique and fitness.

Duration of Class: 1 hour squads, 1.5 hours Advanced Squads
Days & Times:

  • Squad: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 4.30pm to 7.00pm.
  • Advanced Squad: Monday and Thursday, 6.30pm to 8.00pm

Junior Lifeguard Club

The Junior Lifeguard Club is designed for participants that love the water and wish to learn more about life savings skills, fitness and stroke improvement in a social and seriously fun environment.  Participants enrolled in this class are working towards obtaining their Bronze Star and Bronze Medallion certification.  The club has been developed in conjunction with the Royal Life Saving Society.

Duration of Classes: 1 hour
Days & Times: Friday evenings between 5.30pm to 6.30pm

Private Swimming Lessons

Private lessons are ideal for that bit of extra attention or to accelerate the learning curve.  It is our recommendation that these lessons only be as a “bridging” between group Learn to Swim classes. (This statement does not include special needs participants.)

Adult Learn to Swim Classes

It's never too late to learn!

Aquamoves conducts friendly and relaxed classes for adults.  Learn to Swim classes incorporates the development of water confidence, safety skills and stroke development.  Regardless of your ability level, you can progress with other people of similar ability.

Holiday Splash Program

Aquamoves runs a one or two week intensive program over the spring and summer school holidays. These programs follow our Aquasafe stages and can be extremely beneficial, especially for younger children.

Children will develop water awareness, stroke development, survival skills in a fun and interactive enviroment.

Duration of Classes: 30 minutes and are conducted between 9.00am and 12.00pm.

Special Needs Classes

Special Needs classes are conducted for persons with special needs.  Classes are conducted in a friendly, enjoyable atmosphere.  Instructors hold current ‘Aquatics for All Ability’ qualifications.  The class will be developed upon the needs of participant/s in order to capitalise on the individual’s abilities.
