A number of local organisations have joined forces to stage a Swim-A-Thon next month in support of diabetes.
East Shepparton Rotary spokesperson Leah Ross says local Rotary groups have united to support the cause.
"Our Club is supporting a Swim-A-Thon in Tahiti during November which raises awareness of the issue of diabetes and obesity in Tahiti," says Ms Ross.
"After learning more about the Tahiti event we were inspired to hold a series of local events to help with the work of the Shepparton Diabetes Support Group.
"The Aquamoves Swim-A-Thon is one of these events and we expect to hold other events in the lead up to the Tahiti swim," she says. Funds raised will be used to purchase additional resources including books and educational material.
The Swim-A-Thon will take place on Friday 30 March beginning at 5.30pm at Aquamoves.
